This martini doesn’t have a long list of ingredients, but classic martinis never do, subsisting on quality liquor with a personalized touch of what gets the drinker’s juices flowing whether vermouth, blue-cheese-stuffed olives, or cocktail onions. The Double Black Diamond martini is even simpler than that, just Svedka citron vodka infused with fresh pineapple for 21 days and shaken up before pouring into the glass. In fact, you can see that infusion happening in the bar of most Firebird locations, layers of pineapple rings in a glass jug filled with vodka. It’s gorgeous to look at on the bar and in the glass.

This martini is a wonderfully smooth and potent drink. The pineapple coats your throat with some grit, making the lightly citrus vodka a pleasure to sip throughout a meal. If you’re worried straight vodka would be too much for you, see if the Double Black Diamond can’t change your mind.

Are they still making it? It is delicious, so I would not be surprised.

On the Firebird’s Grill website, they say they use New Amsterdam Pineapple Vodka.

It may very well have changed since I wrote this post, Kimberly! It’s been 5 years. Thanks for the update! Glad it’s still tasting great no matter what vodka is used.

Absolutely the smoothest straight vodka cocktail I’ve ever had. It was so delicious, I had to have a second, and I now have the citrus vodka soaking in the pineapple layered glass container in the refridgerater, waiting for the 21st day.

I had this as well it was amazing. Trying to make mine at home right now. Does this need to be refrigerated? A friend said it didn’t but read it should. Anyone know?

The alcohol content likely makes it okay to not refrigerate while infusing…but you can always do so to make sure.

I had my first one last night at the Firebird restaurant in Cranberry. I’ve never had a better martini in my life.

There’s a reason they’ve kept it on the menu for a decade!

Last year I had my first pineapple martini at Firebirds in Nashville. It was amazing. I asked the waitress about it. So, I have bought New Amsterdam pineapple vodka, cut a pineapple and it has been in a glass container in the frig for 20 days. It was really strong just drinking the vodka as a martini. I tasted a piece of the pineapple and got a buzz almost immediately just from a bite of pineapple. I got a little creative and this is what I did. I put the vodka with a few slices of the pineapple in the blender and added half as much pineapple juice. With adding the pineapple juice it was still too strong. I blended it and it formed some froth. I shook the mixture with ice and poured into a chilled glass. I just used a rocks glass but a martini glass would be good as well Holly cow…..it is amazing. I asked a couple neighbors if they wanted to try it. They went crazy over it. The drink still had a pretty good kick so I added a splash of club soda. That cut the sweetness and the vodka kick perfect.
Give it a try. It will do until my next visit to Firebirds.

How long will a black diamond martini last in fridge. No ice..I’ve had for one week.
